Something wonderful is unexpectedly conjured from something very mundane

The ritual and the act of creation is more important than the final result. Akira Yoshizawa
Here are my chosen final images, I’m so happy with the outcome, the pop-up scenes themselves, being made from one single piece of paper, are pretty interesting and have a delicate feeling about them but once photographed they take on whole new dimensions, you get the depth of the shadows and the contrasting textures where the light hits each different part.
Here are the final images of my pop-up book once bound and glued together … My experience with bounding is quite minimal but with a little help from Hannah (who has just been amazing over the past week) it looks really professional. Very Happy.
Hmmmm this kinda all makes sense … seems like an interesting book
Today I done portfolio making with Hannah and finally, after book binding and box making, I am getting used to using the materials managing to create a product without wonky grey board and bubbly book cloth. I’ve got no photos because I’m on my old phone at the mo and Hannah has kept hold of the portfolio’s to drill holes in them so I don’t have the finished product, but I’m happy with my portfolio hopefully it’ll look professional when completely finished.

Here is my Christmas range for Hallmark, it’s hard to read but the idea behind it was to ‘get back to the natural simplicities of Christmas’
Oh it feels like ages away now but last Wednesday Hallmark came in to look at our Christmas range and to pick someone to get the placement, sadly I didn’t get the placement but I found the whole experience really interesting and helpful. One thing I learnt is that I needed to take more notice of the target audience (people who shop in Debenhams) I thought I had done this but once listening and seeing everyone elses work I hadn’t and I’d got carried away. I’d have loved a placement at Hallmark but fingers crossed for next time eh.
Well on Friday I went to see the Decode Recode lot down at Media City, I was busy in the morning so sadly I missed the Duke of Edinburgh but there was a still real buzz in the air when I got there. I hung around for a few hours and had a good nosey at all the work, there was some interesting work from Singapore, some sort of contemporary dance and one boy who was doing paintings of other peoples motion works, it was really intriguing seeing how people interacted with each other and others work, thousands of miles apart. One thing I did learn to do whilst I was there was learn how to knit, rather strange with it being such a digital event and all that, but I was made up, I’ve wanted to learn how to knit for ages and it didn’t find it too difficult.
I submitted my own video for the event, no idea how it went down or if it got shown but i’ll post it up here soon
